But now we’re in Nantes, away from the mountains near the west coast, back concentrating on the Rugby World Cup.

What a weekend of rugby it turned out to be last weekend.

We began in St Etienne for Argentina v Samoa on Friday 22nd.

The less said about that game the better.

Argentina 19, Samoa 10.

“The game will not remain long in the memory,” said the BBC match report.

I could only agree and would add the world “thankfully”.

It was a tedious, dull and turgid affair.

We then headed north for an hour to Lyon for Sunday’s crunch Pool C Wales game against Australia.

On Saturday Ireland were victorious against the current holders, South Africa, in the Stade de France.

We found an Irish bar in Lyon to watch the Ireland/South Africa game.

Suffice to say the place went mad at the final whistle.

PlanetSKI tip – if you are ever in the Alps during the winter and want to watch the 6-Nations (or any other sporting event) just search out an Irish bar.

We have done it more times than we care to remember.

And then there was the Wales match.

For PlanetSKI it’s the big one, as I’m a Welsh supporter.

Lyon was painted red ahead of the game:

On the streets of Lyon the Welsh fans were practicing their line outs:

We had come over from Chambery where we spent a few days in the Alps.

With a stop-over at the lakeside town of Nantua in the foothills of the range.

In Lyon PlanetGOLF resumed its activities at the Par 70 Lyon Chassieu course.

Cove Snr was victorious by one stroke and secured victory on the 18th over Cove Jnr (an England  supporter).

Lets hope England come up short again if the two teams meet in the final of the Rugby World Cup.

As we mentioned we’ve been in the Jura mountains to the north of Lac Leman (Lake Geneva) for a few days as PlanetRUGBY turned back into PlanetSKI.

The Jura looked fabulous as they rose into view.

With spectacular vistas back across Lac Leman to Mont Blanc in the distance.

We’ve also headed over to Verbier in Switzerland to see what’s new for next season and look for a place to live for part of next winter.

Watch this space for that report…
