Les Menuires Celebrates its 60th Birthday

Les Menuires in Les3Vallees is celebrating its 60th year this coming season. It has a host of events to mark the occasion & much that is new for the season. UPDATED

100% of accommodation is ski in/ski out, and the resort offers some of the best value holidays in Les3Vallees with its 600 kms of slopes.

It is situated at 1,800m with over half of its ski area covered by snow cannons.

This winter it open on 9th December.

PlanetSKI was in the resort last December as the lifts fired up.

One was almost doing too well.

We passed through at the end of the season too.

Firstly skiers & snowboarders born in 1964 can take part for free in the March Madness in La Masse event as well as taking home a special commemorative paper.

There are also special guided tours during peak holidays to explore the DNA of Les Menuires season-long.

THE IMMERSIVE ‘MONTAGNETTE’ 2.0

As part of the Ski Patrol Experience, with its ongoing focus on ski safety on the slopes around Les Menuires for all ages, at the top of the Menuires chair lift, a ‘montagnette’ (small Alpine cabin) has been transformed into an immersive auditorium.

It has capacity for 20 people and visitors will have a virtual experience of mountain rescue and accident prevention, to show visitors the risks of the mountains, on and off the slopes, with 360° video showings.

1 session per week during French school holidays, free of charge, 20 people maximum per session.

SNOW PATROL SAFETY

The ski patrol are also offering the chance for children from 7 – 14 years to follow a thrilling and educational 3.3km trail.

They can sample a snowmobile circuit, electric groomer and helicopter emergency lift simulator.

NEW AT LA MASSE – THE ENGINE ROOM

This winter skiers and non-skiers alike can take a glimpse behind the scenes at Pointe de la Masse located at 2,804m.

A fully immersive and fun experience, witness the exciting construction and operation of one of France’s fastest cable cars, offering 360° panoramic views from the terrace.

Free entry and accessible by foot via La Masse cable car.

JUMPING JACKS

“Jacks Bar” has made its mark in Meribel and Courchevel and is now set to make it a hat trick in Les Menuires.

Open all day serving craft beers and signature cocktails, this four-storey hangout boasts a VIP zone, lounge and rock & roll zones.

Owner Jimmy proudly comments: “Jacks is all about creating memories, whether in the restaurant, bar or dancing on a table.” Jacks makes a memorable stop on an après-ski journey across Les Menuires.

Madness in La Masse – 23 March 2024

La Masse is set to host a descent competition lined with obstacles and activities along the way. A toboggan race, water slide, concert and giant BBQ await. Adrenalin junkies of all ages can battle it out in these memorable mountain races. To mark the resort’s 60th year, registration is free for all participants born in 1964.

Yogiski: 8th – 12th April 2024

A week of yoga, hiking, relaxation and meditation combine at La Masse 2,804m during a week of positive energy workshops including sophrology, laughter yoga, vinyasa yoga, Shinrin-yoku, Qi Gong and reflexology.

The week climaxes with a hike up to dinner at the magical Lac de Lou refuge.

ECO FOCUS

As part of Les Menuires’ sustainable development strategy, the Flocon Vert accreditation was awarded in May 2022.

Les Menuires was judged to have achieved high standards in:

  • Transport
  • Living conditions
  • Energy use
  • Waste management

To fight against the famous “empty beds” phenomenon, Les Menuires is making strides with its environmentally friendly focus.

The resort offers accommodation providers long-term financial support and grants in order to comply with thermal and insulation regulations.

Since over half of carbon emissions in the mountains are due to transport, the Climate Change Observatory in Les Menuires has implemented the following for 2023-24:

1.     A free shuttle service to the heart of Les Menuires from surrounding areas

2.     Introduction of 11 hitch-hiking stops across the region

3.     Daily bus service for seasonal workers from Moutiers to Les Menuires

4.     Charging stations for electric vehicles in Saint Martin and Les Menuires.
