Autumn in the Alps
27th September 2023

The seasons are changing as autumn gets underway & winter edges closer. The days are shorter, there’s been snow at altitude & the leaves are changing their colour. PlanetSKI reports from the Alps. UPDATED
PlanetSKI has been in Verbier in Switzerland this week.
We’re doing some research into all that is new in the Swiss resort for next winter.
Plus catching up with a few friends and looking for somewhere to rent as we plan to base ourselves in the area for a month or two next winter.
More of that later, but what first struck us was the autumnal colours.
The seasons in Verbier, like elsewhere around the Alps, are changing as the end of September approaches.
“Although the sun is shining bright at the moment after the wintery weather last weekend, there is still a cooler feel in Verbier,” said the PlanetSKI editor, James Cove.
“People are still out mountain biking, hiking and paraponting, but thoughts are already turning to winter.
“It may be some way off but the seasons are most definitely changing.”
In town the brightly coloured flowers are also shedding their summer colours.

Much of it in the Alps has now melted, except at altitude, as the temperatures have now risen.

Elsewhere in the Alps autumn is also underway.

With some great autumn hikes on offer:
And lets not forget across The Pond where the Fall colours and sights can be amazing.
