Alpine Fleet Builds on Initial Success

It’s the new kid on the block for airport to resort transfers. Now in its second year of operation it claims success with its new approach and is offering new routes.

Here at PlanetSKI we like to focus on some UK success stories in the ski world.

From chalet companies and tour operators doing well, like the long-established Premier Neige in Sainte Foy in France.

To ground-breaking ski instructor platforms like Maison Sport.

Plus specialist companies like Ski France.

And lets not forget transfer companies – Alpine Fleet began operation last winter.

It expanded its operations for this season with the development of short-break transfers to selected French resorts as it detected a growing market that wasn’t being catered for.

Shared transfers make up 80% of the business and this winter the company is focusing on long weekend breaks in some of the French resorts.

It’s offering four daily services on Fridays and Mondays in a push to bring new long weekend clients to Three Valley resorts:

  • Val Thorens
  • Meribel
  • Courchevel

Plus the Haute Tarentaise:

  • La Plagne
  • Les Arcs
  • Tignes
  • Val D’Isere

It also expanded the number of resorts it offers with transfers to and from.

“From the new routes of La Plagne, Les Arcs, Val D’Isere and Courchevel we are seeing excellent growth in the first three, and these services will be expanded for next year,” said the co-founder of Alpine Fleet, Simon Carrelli.

“Our door to door services in these resorts are doing really well, and we are seeing a strong growth in both partner bookings and online direct.

“Shared door to door services to these resorts do not really exist so we are creating a new market here.”

Heavy traffic and snow are part and parcel of the problems faced by transfer companies.

This winter has been no exception.

Less expected is tractors blocking roads to ski resorts for hours and hours on end.

Things have not been so smooth recently with direct action take by French farmers as they blocked roads with tractors and bales of straw.

The actions appear to have ended.

Its established routes of Morzine, Val Thorens, Tignes and Meribel have seen strong growth in its  three markets of shared, private and premium services.

For half-term Alpine Fleet is rolling out a new direct shared service to Avoriaz.

Currently the service runs to Morzine and Les Gets, so it is hoped it will open up another key resort.

“It will offer our holiday makers a more convenient option than simply taking the cable car from Prodains up to Avoriaz.”

“All we need is a nice dollop of snow now as we are starting to hear a few murmurs from our customers,” added Simon ahead of half-term.

Fingers crossed more snow will come.
