Charlotte Bankes Wins Gold for GB

The Snowboard Cross athlete has picked up the top spot at the latest World Cup competition. While Team GB had two slalom skiers in the Top Ten in Aspen. UPDATED
Bankes won gold at the Sierra Nevada SBX in Spain on Saturday afternoon.
It’s her second consecutive World Cup victory after her win in Gudauri on 4th February.
Bankes progressed to the finals in Spain with victory in both the Quarter Final and Semi Final stages.
She then saw off Czechia’s Eva Adamczykova, who took silver, and two French snowboarders, Chloe Trespeuch (bronze) and Manon Petit Lenoir (fourth place).
Saturday’s victory means Bankes now has a total of 17 solo SBX World Cup wins.
“Great to get the win today going into this big block of racing ahead,” Bankes said.
“Today was tough conditions but great team effort with fast board and great game plan that I was able to finish off.
Thanks to everyone involved, another big team effort as we go again tomorrow.”
On Sunday, at the same location, Bankes made the World Cup podium again, picking up a bronze medal.

- Mt St Anne in Canada on 22-24 March.

On Sunday we had two British slalom skiers in the Top Ten in Aspen.
Dave Ryding came 7th with Laurie Taylor getting his best ever result – 8th.
