Zermatt-Cervinia  Downhill Races Axed

The cross- border ski race has been unable to take place for the past two years. It has now been dropped from the calendar for the 2024-2025 season.

The International Ski and Snowboard Federation, FIS, said it had taken this decision in agreement with the Swiss, Swiss-Ski, and Italian, FISI, authorities.

It was to have been the first race that spanned two countries, but the event was never held.

It was to have been held for the first time during the 2022-2023 World Cup season, but it had to be cancelled due to weather conditions:

With two successive cancellations, and the hostility of environmental groups, FIS has cut the event for next season, but has not ruled out it being re-instated.
