Hirscher Aims to Be Back & Racing for Holland

Record overall World Cup winner Marcel Hirscher ended his career 5 years ago racing for Austria. He plans for a comeback to alpine ski racing at the age of 35.

Marcel Hirscher aims to return to Alpine Skiing next season, representing his mother’s home country – the Netherlands.

Marcel Hirscher has shaped the sport of skiing like no other in recent decades.

He retired in September 2019.

Over the last few years, Marcel has continued to train and aims to ascend once more to the pinnacle of his sport.

In accordance with FIS rule 203.5, Hirscher’s application to change his FIS Licence Registration will be considered by the FIS Council at its spring meeting.

Hirscher must have met the relevant criteria to change his FIS license to another country.

Marcel Hirscher has won everything there is to win in skiing and set a series of records:

  • He has won the overall World Cup eight times in a row
  • The Crystal globe in slalom and giant slalom six times each
  • 67 World Cup victories
  • 138 podium places
  • Two Olympic gold medals and one silver
