Scottish Ski Resort Hits Funding Target

It had been feared the Lecht might be forced to close after some poor winters. It launched a crowdfunding appeal to stay open and has now raised the necessary money.

It needed to raise £35,00 to secure the future of skiing and snowboarding at the resort in Aberdeenshire.

Last season ‘dire’ with very little natural snow.

“We’d like to be able to continue for many years to come but we need to ask for your support to do this,” said the chairman, Pieter du Pon, as he launched the crowdfunding appeal back in May.

“As you know 2024 has been a tough winter season with little natural snow.

“During the winter season of 2021 we saw some of the best snow we have had for a long time, but due to the Covid-19 pandemic we were forced to stay closed.

“Each season is different, so we are very disappointed for both our customers, their families as well as us, that we could not enjoy a lot of snow this winter and offer the winter experience you deserve,” he added.

Now the target has been met.

“A heartfelt thank you to our amazing community for coming together with support, kind messages, and donations during our funding appeal,” said a statement from The Lecht.

Lets hope next winter brings better snow conditions for the Lecht and the other four Scottish ski areas.
