Four Glacier Ski Areas Remain Open in the Alps

There is skiing & snowboarding available in Austria, Italy and Switzerland, but not France. Alpine temperatures are set to rise. UPDATED
Tignes in France has now closed leaving Zermatt and Saas Fee in Switzerland, Hintertux in Austria and the Italian area of Passo Stelvio open for some skiing and snowboarding.
The Zermatt glacier can also be accessed from Cervinia in Italy.
The temperatures in the Alp have risen in recent days and it has been +20°C at 2,000m, and +6°C at 3,500m.
Hintertux in Austria is offering the most terrain – 20kms.
As well as skiing the glacier areas have many other offerings in the summer months.
The southern side of the Alps is facing a heatwave from this weekend.
According to MeteoSwiss, maximum temperatures of 31 to 34 degrees are expected in the southern lowlands from Sunday until at least Thursday.
There is also a considerable risk of forest fires in Valais.
Next week high temperatures are set to spread to the northern side of the Alps.
In Scandinavia the Fonna and Galdhøpiggen glaciers report good conditions.
Fonna closes for the summer season on July 28th.
