Four in five British holiday makers think some European holiday hotspots will be too hot to handle within the next five years.
According to a new survey 80% of holidaymakers believe some popular holiday destinations will be too hot to handle.
Last year 71% cited extreme weather concerns.
The European countries that people think will be too hot for a summer holiday by 2029 are:
- Greece 48%
- Turkey 45%
- Spain 44%
- Cyprus 40%
- Italy 28%
- Portugal 27%
- Malta 23%
The findings come in a survey from InsureandGo who questioned a representative sample of 2,000 adults.
“There are clear signs that things could be about to change longer-term,” said the Head of Corporate Affairs at InsureandGo, Garry Nelson.
“Thousands of people have experienced extreme weather during their summer breaks in recent years.”
“We want to help people go abroad without the doubt.
“We would encourage people to do their destination research before they fly off and also to check what their travel insurance covers in terms of cancellation and medical cover for those with pre-existing conditions.”
PlanetSKI went to Greece this year in early summer when the temperatures were in the very manageable late 20s most of the time.
Then there are the mountains in summer.
PlanetSKI’s Claire McAteer is a recent convert.
PlanetSKI has kept cool many times at altitude in the Alps during the summer months.
Last summer we were in the Tirol.
Some mountains areas are actively promoting summer in the mountains to keep cool.
