World’s Largest Indoor Ski Centre Opens in China

The Shanghai L+ Snow Indoor Skiing Theme Resort is open to the public after successful trials. Interest in snowsports has mushroomed in the country after 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.
It covers 98,828.7 square meters and was recognised as the world’s largest indoor skiing venue by the Guinness World Records during its opening ceremony.
It has:
- 60-meter vertical drop
- Three skiing slopes which totals about 1,200m.
It also has other leisure activities:
- A water park
- Restaurants & bars
- Shopping
- Hotels
Visitors are transported by chairlifts, cable cars, and even a green and red “steam train” to the resort’s ski slopes and various attractions.
It partially opened last month and has already received more than 100,000 visitors.

It is mainly aimed at families and young people have become the resort’s main customers.
“The trial operation and the ticket sales have proved tourists’ enthusiasm for the resort,” said the executive deputy general manager, Yin Kang.
The complex is designed to resemble a glacier and is situated in coastal Lingang, about 1.5 hours from the city center.
Since the Beijing Winter Olympics in 2022, China’s ice and snow industry has been growing sharply.

China leads the world in indoor ski resort construction, with half of the top 10 largest resorts by snow area located in the country according to Daxue Consulting.
