Dave Ryding Looks Ahead to Racing Next Season

GB’s most successful alpine skier is training hard ahead of the approaching season. The first slalom races are in Levi, Finland, and Gurgl, Austria, in November. PlanetSKI will be slopeside in Austria.

Last season Dave came 4th in Gurgl – just a fraction off a podium position.

Lets hope he can go at least one place better and make the podium.

The race takes place on November 23rd.

This winter is an Olympic qualifying season with Dave hoping he has what it takes to get to the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics.

If he can repeat his form of last season we’re in for quite a ride.

He ended the season in 7th place – his best overall position.

He is out on the slopes training ahead of his 16th World Cup season.

The first indication of form comes in November and PlanetSKI’s James Cove will be in Gurgl for the second slalom race of the season.

The two last met there in March 2022.

Last winter PlanetSKI caught up with The Rocket at the Schladming night slalom in Austria.

That time Jane Peel was asking the questions.

There are 13 slalom races next season and we will of course be following Dave’s progress.

We will also be following his GB slalom team mates Billy Major and Laurie Taylor.

At Kitzbuehel last winter all three came in the Top Twenty.

  • Dave Ryding, 5th
  • Billy Major, 13th
  • Laurie Taylor, 19th

It was an historic day for GB slalom skiing:

Anyone else looking forward to it all getting underway?
