Perisher Closes Early After Poor Winter in Australian Ski Resorts

It has been a winter to forget in Australia with generally poor snow and many resorts closing early. There are some concerns about how climate change will impact the length of the ski season. NEW

Wednesday 25th September was the last day of operations at Perisher for the 2024 season.

The resort soldiered on in the last few weeks but has now decided to call it a day.

“We have made this difficult decision based on current conditions and in the interest of guest and staff safety, as well as with the best interests of our environment in mind,” said the resort in a statement.

“While the forecast indicates snowfall overnight, with strong winds and torrential rain expected today, we will be unable to preserve what’s left of the snowpack despite the best efforts of our grooming team.

“We’d like to thank you for helping us make the most of this season and cannot wait to welcome you back in 2025.”
