FIS Opens Tender Process for Media Rights for Future World Championships
1st October 2024
The International Ski and Snowboard Federation, FIS, is asking for potential bidders to tender for the media rights to upcoming editions of the FIS World Championships. NEW
The move marks a significant milestone in FIS’s strategic plan, as the federation takes greater control of its media and marketing rights.
The tender also encourages broadcasters to propose new production concepts to modernise its broadcast product.
There will likely be more drone and on-board cameras.
FIS wants to raise standards and engage younger audiences.
The invitation to tender covers a total of eight editions of FIS World Championships:
FIS Alpine World Ski Championships

“This invitation to tender is an encapsulation of the hard work that we have been putting into enhancing and modernizing our approach to media rights, a process that, at its core, is a sports development endeavour,” said the FIS President Johan Eliasch.
“It is a necessary step for elite snow sports to thrive — survive, even — through into the 21st century.
“This is because every cent we earn is destined for one same goal: to be reinvested into better events, more rewarding conditions for athletes, infrastructure for national associations, and, ultimately, the development of snow sports.”
Bidders have until November 12th 12:00 CET to submit their proposals.
