There are seven candidates including the President of the International Ski & Snowboard Federation, Johan Eliasch.
It is the sole official event of the campaign.
IOC regulations prevent candidates from sharing videos, hosting public meetings, or participating in public debates.
A final vote takes place in March at 143rd Extraordinary IOC Session that will be held in Greece.
“The in-camera meeting will give the IOC members the opportunity to hear from the seven candidates about their programs,” said the IOC.
The front-runner to succeed Thomas Back as President of the IOC is GB’s Sebastian Coe, who is chairman of World Athletics with an impeccable Olympic background, though his victory is by no means a foregone conclusion.
Here are the seven contenders:
- Lord Sebastian Coe of Great Britain
- Kirsty Coventry of Zimbabwe
- Juan Antonio Samaranch of Spain
- Prince Feisal Al Hussein of Jordan
- David Lapparient of France
- Morinari Watanabe of Japan
- Johan Eliasch of Sweden
We reported on the contest as it was announced:
In the afternoon, the IOC Members will convene for the 143rd Extraordinary IOC Session, where they will vote on the host city for the 2028 Winter Youth Olympic Games (YOG).
Earlier this year, the IOC announced that it had entered a Targeted Dialogue with the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI) and the Dolomiti Valtellina project regarding the Winter YOG 2028.
The current President, Thomas Bach, plans to leave his post in June after a three-month transition with his successor.
