Freeski Athletes Set For Stubai

From November 20th to 23rd the FIS Freeski World Cup takes place, kicking off the season with the popular slopestyle opener. We look at what’s on offer.

90 athletes from 22 countries will compete in the Stubai Zoo Snowpark.

The initial registration list already includes some of the world’s best – from Olympic Champions and World Champions to X-Games winners

Since 2017, the freeski elite has gathered each year at Gaiskarferner to hold their first slopestyle competition on the Pro-Line.

Situated at an altitude of over 3,000 meters, the ski resort offers a top-notch setup and kicks off the season in one of the best  snow parks.

“It’s an opening no one wants to miss, as the world’s best freeskiers will be competing not only for the first World Cup points but also for valuable Olympic qualification points,” said a statement from the organisers.

Last year’s qualification winners, Mathilde Gremaud and Evan McEachran, were crowned champions, and both will be aiming to defend their titles this year.

However, the competition will be fierce, with several athletes vying for the crown.

Thanks to its south-facing location at over 3,000 meters, its gorgeous mountain backdrop, and its daily reshaped lines, the Snowpark Stubai Zoo at Stubai Glacier has become one of the hotspots of the worldwide freestyle scene.

Whether you’re a beginner, amateur, or professional, its four lines offer something for every taste and ability.

Especially in autumn, when the shapers build the XXL set-up with easy, jib, medium, and pro-lines, snowboard and freeski pros from all over the world romp about the snowpark.

Stubai Prime Park Sessions

Many freeski pros take advantage of the perfect conditions on the Stubai Glacier for training and pre-season preparation.

During the Prime Park Sessions at the Stubai Zoo, some of the top athletes will put the finishing touches to their tricks for the coming season.

At this five-week training camp for professionals, the best freeskiers and snowboarders from all over the world train side by side on the Prime-Line specially designed for them.

Starting on October 21, some of the world’s best athletes will gather on the Stubai Glacier to prepare themselves for the important opening stop.
