Dave Ryding in Action

GB’s greatest alpine ski racer is competing for the first time this season at the opening slalom race in Levi, Finland. He was 5th after the first run but had a disappointing second run and is outside the top Ten. UPDATED

The race is an indicator of form and after the first run Dave Ryding was in the Top Ten in fifth place.

He had a disappointing second run and finished in joint 16th place, 2.49 seconds off the pace.

Taking fifth place in the first run will give him some comfort for the season ahead and shows he is still up there competing with the best in the world.

For GB racing fans it remains wonderful to have our racers competing at the highest level and the race in Levi once again tested the nerves.

Billy Major came 40th and Laurie Taylor 42nd after the first run.

The race was won by Clement Noel from France.

The ex-Austrian racer, Marcel Hirscher, who is now racing for the Netherlands was in 46th place after the first run on Sunday.

There was much excitement in the build up to the first slalom race of the season.
