The track in Cortina will also be used for luge and skeleton and the pre-approval process will be completed by the end of March 2025.

At one stage it had been thought there would be no track and the event might have to take place elsewhere.

Innsbruck in Austria had been touted as a venue, but the Italian government insisted all events would take place in Italy.

The IOC and 2026 Organising Committee have recently visited the site and expressed satisfaction with the progress made so far

It is reported than half of the new facility is complete, and the authorities have announced that there will be an international training week with a test competition prior to the Olympic season.
