British Hiker Missing in French Alps

Kirk Handley, 60, was on holiday in the Hautes-Alpes area when he went missing on September 7^th.

He was planning to walk from Villar-d’Arène towards the Col d’Arsine.

His family in Yorkshire declared him missing on September 13th, however the local police were not notified until September 22^nd.

He is said to be an experienced mountaineer and hiker.

A search for Mr Handley began last Monday but was hindered by poor weather.

He left a note in his hire car that he was planning to hike until September 10^th.

He also left an outline of his itinerary.

Some camping gear has been found, but Mr Handley remains missing.
