Prime Minister Michel Barnier provided has provided guarantee that the French government would cover any potential budgetary deficit that might arise.

It was awarded the 2030 Games back in July as we reported at the time:

France has had a period of political instability and the assurances have now been given by the new right-wing Prime Minister.

“As Prime Minister… I commit to guarantee to cover any potential budgetary deficit of the organising committee,” Barnier stated in a direct letter to the IOC President, Thomas Bach.

After signing the guarantees by the set date of 1st October, he now needs to have them ratified by parliament no later than 1st March, according to IOC guidelines.

That is by no means certain due to the ongoing political instability, but observers expect it to go through after the all-round success of the Paris Summer Olympic Games.
