According to preliminary results from Statistics Austria there were 39.94m overnight stays in accommodation establishments for the first half of summer 2024, May to July.

That’s 0.8% higher than the previous year.

“Holidays in Austria were in greater demand than ever before in the first half of the current 2024 summer season,” said the Director General of Statistics at Statistics Austria, Tobias Thomas.

“With 39.94 million overnight stays, the best result for the period May to July since 1980 was achieved.

“Around 70% of overnight stays were by guests from abroad.”
