It takes place from 29th January to 1st February 2025 as the sport is a candidate to become an additional discipline at the 2030 Winter Olympics in the French Alps.
The future members of the Olympic Games Organising Committee will be present at the event.
It was a demonstration sport at the Winter Olympics in Sochi in 2014 and the Lillehammer YOG in 2016.
It is hoped that ice climbing can now move up a gear by becoming an additional discipline at the 2030 Winter Games.
There will be two competitions:
- Speed, which consists of a vertical sprint on an iced wall
- Lead, a timed technical ascent on a course that combines ice climbing and dry tooling.
Programme
Wednesday 29/01 at 5.30pm: opening ceremony
Thursday 30/01, 9am – 5pm: lead qualifications
Friday 31/01:
9 – 11.30am: lead semi-final
4 – 6.30pm: speed qualifications
7 – 8pm: speed final
Saturday 1/02 at 5.30pm: final of the lead event, attended by the members of the Olympic Games Organising Committee.
