A weekend ski touring getaway in Verbier offers a blend of physical activity and scenic views.

Starting from the La Barmasse car park, the trail begins with a climb up a forest path.

Midway, a clearing provides an opportunity to take a break and enjoy views of the surrounding mountains, including “le Pleureur,” a prominent peak at the far end of the Bagnes valley.

After continuing through the forest, the trail leads to a snow-covered road with a gentler incline, which ends at the Cabane Brunet, a mountain hut situated at 2,100 metres.

At the hut, the Corthay family welcomes visitors with traditional dishes, including a well-known apple pie.

After staying overnight in one of the hut’s recently updated rooms, the second day’s climb heads toward the Col du Rogneux.

From there, skiers can opt to continue along the ridge to the summit of Mont Rogneux, for which a guide is recommended.

The route concludes with an off-piste descent back to La Barmasse car park.

A  guide is priced from 180 CHF / £160 pp for a group of four.
