The largest ski resort operator in the world is set to axe roughly 14% of its corporate positions and 1% of its operational workforce.
Vail Resorts employs roughly 7,600 year-round employees and 44,900 seasonal employees in the last fiscal year across its 42 resorts.
“No matter how big or small the impact of position eliminations, we do not take lightly any decision that affects our team members,” said the CEO of Vail Resorts, Kirsten Lynch.
Our team members are the core of our mission to create an Experience of a Lifetime, and we have tremendous gratitude for their passion and commitment to our mission, our mountains, and our guests.”
The company says that employees whose jobs are affected are welcome to apply for open roles at the company.
The layoffs are part of a broader “Resource Efficiency Transformation Plan” that Vail expects will save $100m within two years.
