Jonny Cassidy, the head of its On Snow Services, has left The Ski Club of Great Britain. He's been a key member of the team for 8 years.

Jonny is a well-known and extremely well-liked figure in the UK snowsports industry.

He has been with the Club for 8 years and, among other responsibilities, runs its Freshtracks holiday programme.

He is said to be "pursuing fresh challenges elsewhere" and his departure is swift.

The Ski Club is undergoing huge internal changes and we understand the powers that be at the Club simply wanted to get on with the move after he handed in his resignation.

We understand Jonny was surprised by the speed of his departure once he announced his intentions.

"Jonny's passion for the Ski Club is unquestioned and he has always maintained the Club's best interests at heart. He certainly leaves with our best wishes for the future," said the current CEO of the Club Darren Neylon in a private email to staff that has been sent to us here at PlanetSKI.

Jonny is one of the last of the long-time employees at the Club, which has seen many changes in personnel in the past 18-months with a complete change of senior personnel.

In an email sent to his contacts in the industry late on Thursday announcing his departure, Jonny said it was time "to move on to pastures new with a change of direction".

He said he was leaving the Club knowing they had together achieved some great things, particularly the growth of Freshtracks.

He said he'd also greatly enjoyed working on the Ski Club Leader programme with its 300-plus volunteers.

"I will miss working at the Club and feel privileged to have been able to work in a field that is my passion. I leave the Club with very fond memories of the last 8 years," he said.

"The time I have spent at the Club pales into insignificance in comparison to the 115 year history of our organisation however I leave knowing that the Club is in good hands and ready for the next 115 years with new Leadership in place.

"I wish the very best for the Club and the team here who continue to work hard for our members."

Freshtracks is widely seen as one of the recent success stories of the Club as other areas in which it operates has faced significant challenges.

Jonny should take much credit for that success.

The numbers of people going on its holidays have risen and the range of holidays on offer has expanded.

All this in an area where others have seen falling numbers.

Freshtracks has increased skier numbers by 50% since the 2010/11 season.

Revenue of the brand has gone up by 60% and gross profit by 80%.

Here at PlanetSKI we wish Jonny, and The Ski Club, all the best for the future.
