New US ski resort
Wednesday October 28, 2015 - Email this article to a friend

Cherry Peak is opening in Utah this winter. It comes as small ski areas face increasing pressures in the USA.

It has just 3 chairlifts and gives access to 280 acres of terrain.

The resort has been in the making for the past 6 years and we reported about it in this earlier story on PlanetSKI.

The resort has 29 trails and a snow park with jumps and rails.

The lodge has a rental shop and restaurant near the main lift.

There are plans to build a tubing park and an ice skating rink at a later date.

As well as snowsports in the winter Cherry Peak will offer biking and hiking in the summer and be a venue for weddings, conferences and other functions.

However it comes at a difficult time for the US ski industry and some predict the future is bleak for small resorts and it is the larger ones that will prosper.

See here for a recent article on PlanetSKI - Good news and bad news.

The resort hopes to open for business in time for Thanksgiving at the end of November.
