Ryding rounds off great January
Wednesday January 27, 2016 - Email this article to a friend

The GB slalom specialist, Dave Ryding, managed another Top 20 place. It was at the night racing in Schladming after a string of great results this season.

The famous Schladming night Slalom was the setting for another top 20 finish for Delancey British Alpine Ski Team athlete, Dave Ryding.

Dave finished in an impressive 16th position in front of a 50,000 strong Austrian crowd.

"I did two solid technically good runs which I was pretty happy with. I was massively disappointed after Kitzbuehel and I wanted to make sure I didn't make any mistakes. I tried to keep a line on the steep as I knew this would be where you could lose a lot of time. And I managed to do this on both runs," said Dave.  At Kitzbuhel at the weekend he did not finish on his second run.

"I am really content with how January has gone. Apart from Adelbolden, I felt I skied really well in what was a full-on month. I am going to make the most of a few days rest now, and then try as hard as I can to try and make the World Cup finals in March," he added.

And here he is in action:

It follows as 16th place in Wengen as we reported here.

And a 13th in Santa Caterina - see there for our story form the time.

And a 12th place in Val d'Isere - Go Dave!

"Woo hoo Dave Ryding you are awesome. Looking so strong and solid. You are right up there!" said the former GB racer, Emma Carrick-Anderson, after his result in Schadming.

He is now a realistic chance for a Top 10 place and is up there with the best in the world.

Dave is next in action at the Slalom World Cup in Yuzawa Naeba in Japan on 14th February.
