It means people travelling from the three ski nations will not have to be jabbed to avoid quarantine. Austria, Norway & some others are on the green list, while the majority of ski nations are on the amber list. We look at which UK list the ski nations are on. UPDATED
The new definitions came into force at 04.00 on Monday 30th August.
However it should be noted there are restrictions on people travelling from the UK to Canada, though these are eased on September 7th.
It is a good sign for those thinking of skiing in Canada this winter.
Some observers have raised their eyebrows at why Switzerland has gone on the green list.
It has one of the fastest rising numbers of cases in Europe as it struggles to deal with a surge in cases of the Delta variant.
Switzerland currently has 206 confirmed cases of Covid-19 per 100,000 of population.
3-weeks ago that number was 66.
Of the other main alpine nations it is 208 in France, 96 in Austria, 75 in Italy, while over in the Pyrenees it is 147 in Spain and 49 in Andorra.
In Scandinavia it remains at 101 in Norway and 61 in Sweden.
In Finland, that has also now been placed on the green list, it is 78.
Green List rules:
Travellers coming from green list countries do not need to quarantine when they come back to the UK – whether or not they have had two doses of a coronavirus vaccine.
They still have to be tested before their return to the UK and book a test for day two after their return.
They also need to fill in a passenger location form.
The Green list ski countries including Austria, Canada, Finland, Germany, Iceland, Norway, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia and Switzerland.
Of the other main ski nations Andorra, France, Italy, Japan, Spain, Sweden and the USA are currently on the Amber list.
Fully-vaccinated adults do not have to quarantine on their return from amber list countries, but they do have to have tests before returning and two days after they get back.
Those who have not had both vaccines have to isolate at home for 10 days, as well as having Covid tests.
Many countries though have restrictions on people arriving from the UK.
The USA is looking at ending its ones in time for Thanksgiving, and the start of the ski season, at the end of November.
Austria has eased its restrictions:
Norway eased its restrictions earlier this month as we reported:
All travellers from the UK to the ski nations should check the entry requirements and understand that they are subject to change with little notice.
We will be updating on PlanetSKI with the full current details of entry requirements to the main ski nations on Tuesday 31st August.
