Registration for World Snow Day Opens

The 12th edition of World Snow Day will take place on the 15th January 2023. The World Snow Day Awards will also be handed out. The events aims to get more young people into snowsports.
The event is organised by the International Ski Federation, FIS, and is focused on getting more children and young people interested in all activities on snow.
In January 2022 there were 148 events in 42 countries.
Here were just some of the events:
• SkiStar resorts of Trysil, Hemsedal, Sälen, Are and Vemdalen offered free lift passes to all local residents
• Ski Resorts of Serbia members Kopanik, Zlatibor and Stara Planina offered 50% off lift passes for all visitors
• Free ski and snowboard lessons by 17 ski and snowboard schools throughout Poland
• Free access to cross country trails in Winterpark (USA) and Le Club de Ski de Fond d’Evian (CAN)
• Free sandboarding lessons in Aucallama (PER), Paracuru (BRA) and La Paz Baja (MEX),
• Environmental lessons mixed with snow fun in Strathcona (CAN)
• Safety games and demonstrations by ski patrollers in Furano (JPN)
• 8 ski and snowboard schools and clubs in Romania teaming up to offer a full day of snow sports for free to children with an intellectual and physical disability.
Registration is open and it closes on the 15th December 2022.
World Snow Day 2023 will also see the next edition of the World Snow Day Awards take place.
“The World Snow Day Awards have become a hot competition,” say the organisers.
The winnners receive prize money as the Awards recognise the best events to bring children to the snow on World Snow Day.
There are four categories:
Best World Snow Day – For events over 500 persons. Prize:10’000chf
Best Small World Snow Day – For events under 500 persons. Prize: 2’000chf
Innovation Award – For the most innovative and creative World Snow Day.Prize: Film crew to shoot their next World Snow Day
Line Honours – First event to register for World Snow Day 2023. Prize: 1’000chf
The Line Honours category rewards the first event to register for World Snow Day with 1’000 CHF towards their event.
