Raccoon Media Group has unveiled a large scale expansion of UK snowsports activities in partnership with Evening Standard Live. PlanetSKI has the details. UPDATED
Raccoon Media Group is the company behind The National Snow Show, Birmingham that took place last weekend.
We have a review of the National Snow Show lower down this article.
First the details of the new initiatives.
National Snow Week will begin with the third edition of National Snow Show which will take place at the NEC, Birmingham on 14th–15th October 2023.
There will be key trade and consumer satellite events.
These involve other snow related companies including dry slopes, snow centres, retailers and brands.
These will lead up to the newly launched London Snow Show at the Excel in London on 21st – 22nd October 2023.
The week will aim to create an opportunity for brands, resorts, tour operators and associations to come face-to-face with over 25,000 snowsport enthusiasts at its two consumer events.
Plus there are what Racoon Media Group calls “strategic, high-level trade events during the same timeframe, truly galvanising the industry to extend the reach of the snowsports industry in the UK”.
The London Snow Show will mirror the Birmingham event.
It will bring a mix of retail, content and interactive features to snowsports enthusiasts in London and the surrounding counties.
The events will continue to work hand-in-hand with industry media partners and PlanetSKI is already onboard to work alongside the events.
The last Ski & Snowboard Show to take place in London was in October 2019.
It was run by Telegraph Events who pulled the plug on it in February 2020.
Then along came Covid-19 shortly after.
A resurrected London Ski Show was promised in 2021 and in 2022.
But neither materialised.
“Over the course of the last two years working on The National Snow Show and across six years of running multi award-winning health and wellbeing shows in the UK and US, we’ve been able to build strong relationships across every facet of the snowsports and fitness sectors,” said Stephen Morgan, MD at Raccoon Active Events that is part of the Raccoon Media Group portfolio.
“There’s huge demand for the show we have created hand-in-hand with the industry in Birmingham to be available to the London audience and with the successful model we have created, we are totally stoked to be able to meet that demand.
“The introduction of National Snow Week sandwiched between the two large scale consumer events will provide strategic opportunities for the UK and international snowsports industry, press and wider stakeholders to network and continue to develop the role the UK plays, not only in its own snowsports industry but in the wider European market too.”
The National Snow Show took place at the NEC in Birmingham last weekend and though the numbers have not been crunched it seemed to be a success and built on the first event last year that we reported on in 2021 – National Snow Show Claims Success

The main UK tour operators were there last weekend, including Inghams and Crystal Ski.
Plus some of the smaller specialist operators were there including SkiWeekends and Absolutely Snow.
There was plenty of retail with numerous shops and a beginner slope for skiers and snowboarders.
The resorts from the Alps and beyond were, however, conspicuous by their absence.
There were a handful, including France Montagnes and Andorra.
One new ski destination attending was Norway – Home of Skiing.
They reported great interest from people wanting to hear about what the ski resorts of Norway have to offer.
The group was delighted to attend and will be back next year at both Birmingham and London.
There was a lack of ski resorts from North America, but Jackson Hole from Wyoming had a stand and reported great interest.
The multi resort lift pass, Ikon Pass was also at the Show and its lift pass can be used in resorts across the USA and Canada, as well as some in the Alps and the Pyrenees.
After something of a quiet time over recent years in the UK for snowsports events it seems things may be turning a corner with the continuation of the show in Birmingham, a new one in London and a National Snow Week.
Here at PlanetSKI we’ll keep you posted as further details are released…
