Verbier takes the crown for the world’s best resort with Bear Lodge, Les Arcs named ‘World’s Best New Ski Hotel’. We look at the winners across all the categories.
The global initiative recognises excellence in ski tourism and has unveiled the winners of its 10th annual programme.
The results follow a survey for the world’s leading ski travel, tourism and hospitality brands.
Votes were cast by ski industry professionals and ski consumers.
The nominee gaining the most votes in a category was named the winner.
Verbier was named ‘World’s Best Ski Resort’ for the second year running.
The Swiss resort made it a double celebration with W Verbier collecting ‘World’s Best Ski Hotel’.
“We would like to thank all the destination’s partners who make Verbier live and shine internationally and without whom this award would not have been given to us,” said the director of Verbier Tourism, Simon Wiget.
“This victory is that of the entire destination, of the shopkeepers, hoteliers and other professionals of Verbier and the Val de Bagnes.
“It is also that of our daily ambassadors, the secondary and annual residents, the seasonal workers and our loyal customers.”

Talking of awards and lists see here for a recent PlanetSKI article as we looked at a survey compiled by Forbes on the best ski resorts across the world:
In the World Ski Awards France took double honours in the newcomer categories, with Bear Lodge, Les Arcs named ‘World’s Best New Ski Hotel’ and Val-d’Isère’s Chalet Abade recognised as ‘World’s Best New Ski Chalet’.
“We would like to thank all our staff who bring Bear Lodge in Arc 1950 to life, without them, this award would not have been given to us,” said the owner of VIP SKI, Andy Sturt, that offers holidays to Bear Lodge.
“This is the culmination of seven years’ design and development, during which VIP SKI has tried to create the ultimate ski experience.
“The new wing of Arc 1950 blends seamlessly into the picturesque high-altitude village and offers a completely new level of comfort and convenience.”
PlanetSKI will be staying at Bear Lodge next month as we pass through Les Arcs and we look forward to reporting back.
Val Thorens voted as ‘France’s Best Ski Resort’ for the 10th time at the World Ski Awards.

“And this year sees the opening of the €40 million Le Board sports, wellness and business centre right in the heart of the village. It’s a marquee new development for the resort.”
