Deer Valley Expands Next Winter with Much More to Come

The resort in Utah is set to see another 3,700 acres open for skiing in one of the largest resort expansions in US history. At PlanetSKI we have been following progress closely for a number of years.
Once complete there will be sixteen new chairlifts, a new village and hub with direct access from the highway, Route 40.
It opens fully in the season of 2025/26, with significant additions this coming winter.
For 2024/25 there will be over 300 new skiable acres, several new ski runs, and 500 additional skier parking spots originating from the Deer Valley East Village, currently under development.

This winter the Keetley Express lift is expected to open in December.
It will be Deer Valley’s first 6-person chairlift with a bubble, connecting Deer Valley East Village to the existing Deer Valley footprint.
It drops skiers off near the bottom terminal of the Sultan Express chairlift on Bald Mountain.
The additional two chairlifts, Hoodoo Express and Aurora, will service new beginner-level ski trails and provide return access to the new Deer Valley East Village.
Deer Valley East Village is currently under development, and construction will continue into the coming seasons.
A Look Ahead:
The second phase of the terrain expansion is set to open for the 25/26 ski season.
It is expected to add six additional chairlifts, including a 10-passenger gondola, nearly 100 new ski runs, and 700 more parking spaces.
When all phases of expansion are complete, Deer Valley will add 3,700 acres of skiable terrain, more than doubling the size of the resort and making Deer Valley one of the largest ski resorts in North America.
The project represents Deer Valley’s first terrain expansion since 2008 and is one of the most significant expansions in the US ski industry over the past four decades.
The resort says there will be new world-class accommodation, dining, and retail.

However not everyone is happy and some of the locals PlanetSKI spoke to on a visit as the project began questioned the need for another ski area where there are many in close proximity to Salt Lake City.
Others simply saw it as a money-making real estate development.

Deer Valley is set to open its slopes for this season on December 7th.

Deer Valley limits the number of skiers on the mountain each day, and guests are encouraged to purchase lift tickets, lodging, ski lessons, and rental products in advance.
