Fancy skiing in a London suburb?

The London suburb of Surbiton is preparing to host the Surbiton Ski Sunday as competitors ski on blocks of ice by the main street. PlanetSKI was there at the inaugural event in October 2009.
21 metres may not sound a long way but it is when you have blocks of ice strapped under your shoes and you are on a section of pavement.
The event is now in its third year and it is all done for fun and to raise money for a local hospice.
In the last two events almost 100 people have taken park in the event, while raising money for the Shooting Star Children’s Hospice in Hampton.
The hospice cares for terminally ill children and their families.
We were there at the first events and it seems to be going from strength to strength.
Here is our story from the time and below is a short video of proceedings.
This year’s event takes place on Sunday October 16th.
If you are in the area it is well-worth supporting and if you have the courage then why not take part too?
To register to take part or for more information then see the web site here.
