SOMETHING TO INSPIRE

We’ve reported elsewhere on PlanetSKI that a new coffee-table book has just been published charting the success of Great Britain’s Park & Pipe skiers and snowboarders from the early days of the dry slopes.
Radical Gains: The GB Park And Pipe Story is the fascinating story of how GB freestylers became world-class.
It’s definitely on our Christmas wish list.

If the audience is a little younger, how about this one: ‘Jacob’s First Ski Holiday’.
A kids book about… SKIING!

It’s written by a skier, a ski teacher and a dad…
The picture book will get your first timer excited about your ski holiday, whilst familiarising them with some of the skiing basics.
Share the ski love, buy it here.

And while we are on the subject of books….
Some telly for Xmas?

Some telly for Xmas?

Do you know any telemark skiers?

You know those ones that keep lifting their heel and bending their knees as they glide effortlessly down the slopes.

One of our very good friends, the ski instructor Joe Beer, has published a fabuolous book on the discipline.

It also includes tips and hint s for alpine skiers – Joe teaches both.

It’s full of tips, drills and skills for anyone wanting to improve their skills.

“Most manuals will tell you how to do things, this book gives you lots on how it should feel, along with some bio mechanical facts but no long scientific babble,” said Joe.

Joe has been instructing for more than 30 years and is passionate about teaching and making a difference in people’s progress.

He has skied and taught skiing and telemark all over the world; from early years in Andorra, to seasons in NZ.

He now works in the Portes du Soleil in France.

You may also know him by his alter ego Joe the Strummer; guitar and singer.

SKIING & SNOWBOARDING EXPERIENCES…

We think this next one is the perfect gift, for any skier or boarder at any level:

Buy someone a private ski lesson.

Maison Sport is perhaps where to start.

It’s a platform for independent ski instructors where you can personally choose your ski guy or board gal for whenever, wherever you like.

An hour, each day in Chamonix perhaps?

Get online, check out the profiles of the freelance ski instructors that work out of your destinaiton resort, and wrap up a photo of your instructor to-be as a joke on Christmas day…

And there are a whole range of others offers courses and lessons: Snoworks, the Warren Smith Ski Academy, the British Alpine Ski School and Freshtracks to name but a few.

Do you know anyone going on a self-catering ski holiday this winter?
Well how about gifting them a present where they won’t have to cook?
Huski is a new company that delivers pre-cooked food (and drinks) to your apartment – and all at a very reasonable cost.
