SNOW REPORT FROM THE CAIRNGORMS

The area has recently been battered by strong winds and snow, Rod Frazer has sent us a quick update on the current snow conditions in the Cairngorms along with some stunning photographs.

We have had a few days of snow storms across the Highlands.

These have been often accompanied by high winds so all 5 Scottish ski areas have had plenty of snow, but some have been luckier than others depending on their aspect.

Over in the West both Glencoe and Nevis Range have excellent cover.

In the East Cairngorm has now got the snow lower down so we can finally get access to the higher slopes as the ‘Carpark Tow’ has sufficient cover.

Likewise Glenshee also has great cover on the Cairnwell side; today was a bluebird day and tomorrow promises to be the same.

The Lecht hasn’t fared as well with the recent snow but still offers superb beginner runs on mainly man-made snow.

There’s plenty of snow in the forecast for the weekend so with luck all five ski areas will further improve.

It’s been a bit of a stop start season so far but this week really feels like the snow is here to stay, fingers crossed.
