Maison Sport Expands

The online platform that allows you to book independent ski and snowboard instructors is branching out after raising £1.25m in new funding.

Maison Sport announced a crowdfunding campaign in January and has attracted new investors.

It already has 1,200 active instructors in more than 350 resorts in Italy, France, Austria, and Switzerland.

For winter 2021/22 it is planning to move into Sweden, Norway, Scotland, and Japan.

By this time next year, its aim is to expand into Asia and Latin America.

Maison Sport was founded by ex pro athletes Nick Robinson, Olly Robinson and Aaron Tipping to challenge the status quo.

“Taking into account our successful funding round, we can say that the disruption of the industry has been well received by other visionaries and entrepreneurs who have recently invested in Maison Sport,” the company says.

One new investor is Gareth Williams, co-founder of skyscanner.com .

Existing investors Kevin Byrne, founder of checkatrade.com and Lorenz Bogaert, co-founder of Massive Media, have backed Maison Sport again.

Maison Sport had hoped to raise £1.4m but says it’s extremely happy to have got close to its initial goal, given the global situation in the past 18 months.

“We’ve been blown away that we managed to come really close to the ambitious targets we set ourselves, but it’s taken a lot of hard work, dedication, and resilience” said Nick Robinson.
