It’s open! The Cervinia area offers a cocktail of mountain sports, not only of alpine skiing and snowboarding (also freeride or heliski) but also

Many high altitude areas in the Alps saw some snow last week and it has been continuing this week in places.
“It has been snowing again in the Alps, this time mostly in the east, with 10-30cm falling in the last 24 hours in the northern and eastern Swiss Alps, and parts of Austria,” said the alpine weather expert Fraser Wilkin from weathertoski.co.uk.
Some of the best snow is to be found on the Austrian glaciers as we reported earlier:
In Austria Hintertux, Stubai, Soelden, Kaunertal, Pitztal, Molltal and Kitzsteinhorn are open.
The Swiss resorts of Zermatt, Saas-Fee and Engelberg also have slopes open on their glaciers.
In Italy Val Senales, Passo Stelvio and Cervinia are currently open.
In Scandinavia Ruka and Levi in Finland have some slopes and cross-country trails open.
Snow has been falling in many resorts in the Alps as the weather turns colder.
Val Thorens opens for its long winter season on October 22nd and PlanetSKI will be in the resorts for the opening.

In the USA a couple of resorts in Colorado opened last weekend – Wolf Creek on Saturday and Arapahoe Basin on Sunday.
Other resorts in the state have their snow guns on.
