The Austrian resort is changing its end of season musical offerings. Instead of a single huge concert on the final weekend in May there will be four concerts starting in April. First up is Simply Red.

As well as the main bands there will be more on offer including gourmet experiences and other musical treats.

There will be as sundowner events, mountain breakfast on offer and dine around options.

The live concerts themselves will take place on the piste, open air on the Idalp, which is located at 2,300m above sea level.

First up on April 2nd is Simply Red for the new “Spring Blanc” series.

Concert admission is included for free in the day ski pass.

“Whether you are a passionate skier, sun worshipper, gourmet or music lover – the new event series “Spring Blanc” provides a multitude of reasons to welcome spring on the white slopes of Ischgl,” said the resort as it announced the Spring shake up.

The previous closing concerts have seen the likes of Elton John, The Killers, Robbie Williams, Kylie, Rod Stewart, Lionel Richie and many more.

PlanetSKI has been at a few of them.

Some of Ischgl’s slopes are above 2,000m so it is a good area for spring skiing.

“This year, guests can expect a colourful program full of culinary delights and music on the slopes with the new event series “Spring Blanc” as well as unforgettable spring skiing,” said the resort.

Other acts and offerings will be announced shortly.

Here at PlanetSKI we are hoping to be in the resort in April and look forward to updating on the new events.

Concerts and musical events have proved to be a crowd puller in many resorts as they close.

Ischgl led the way with its Top of the Mountain and Opening concerts, and now the resort is adjusting the formula.

Simply Red

Simply Red, fronted by Mick Hucknall, deliver an emotional soundtrack with an infectious blend of soul and pop and elegant, sensitive ballads.

Over 100 single and album chart successes with a combined circulation of more than 60 million, dozens of gold and platinum awards and 1,500 concerts in front of more than 12 million fans mark their career.

The breakthrough came in 1985 with their debut album “Picture Book” and the single “Money’s Too Tight (To Mention).”

Mick Hucknall has been the lynchpin of Simply Red as singer, songwriter and bandleader since its beginnings in 1985, supported by his long-time saxophonist Ian Kirkham.

The band has played in its current formation since 2003.
