The Mighty Coe Returns

The UK’s only mountain-based ski and snowboard festival is returning to the Scottish Highlands next spring – and it’s promising to be even mightier than before.

The Mighty Coe will be back at Glencoe Mountain resort from 10th to 12th March, following its hugely successful launch edition last season.

There are some big changes planned, with an expanded festival programme and a bigger line-up of social and off-snow activity.

Around 25 to 30 of the biggest snowsport brands will be represented on the mountain, exhibiting in the on-snow Festival Village throughout the weekend.

UK skiers and snowboarders will have the chance to see and try new models of snowsport equipment free of charge, in real mountain conditions.

Among the brands attending will be Atomic, Black Crows, Dalbello, Dynafit, Faction, Marker, Salomon, Scarpa, Scott and Volkl.

The Festival Village is situated on the Glencoe mountain plateau, and accessed by chairlift from the base station.

All lift passes that weekend will include access to The Village which will feature DJ sets and music all as well as food and a bar.

Mighty Coe Lift Passes will include access to the festival village, expo and kit test as well as the Glencoe Mountain area.

They are available now via The Mighty Coe website at a cost of £40 per day.

An important aim of The Mighty Coe is to promote access to backcountry skiing and snowboarding, so a variety of courses and sessions will be available to book over the weekend.

They include off piste skiing, ski touring, splitboarding and steep skiing skills.

The courses will be provided by Glenmore Lodge/Atomic Skis guides and instructors, and Glencoe Mountain Resort instructors. Booking details will be available in the new year via The Mighty Coe website.

Last season the off-snow après side of the festival sold out and so the programme has more than doubled for 2023.

The Snow Film Night in the resort’s new café will be back on Saturday evening, following Friday’s brand new Inside Edge event – a hosted evening of inspirational talks with appearances from influential snowsport insiders, brands and athletes.

The organisers say the Friday night will be a must-go for anyone serious about sliding, equipment and mountain culture.

They promise “a few nice surprises” on both these nights too.

Another major addition for The Mighty Coe 2023 will be evident outside the base station café.

In the great tradition of alpine snow festivals, there will be a specially created outdoor DJ stage and snow bar on both Friday and Saturday nights.

“We may not have the Alps’ weather, but the Glencoe ski and snowboard community has a reputation for being an adventurous bunch who love a party and enjoy their good times best outdoors,” the organisers say.

The Mighty Coe is sponsored by Ellis-Brigham, the leading outdoor and snowsport retailer.

Mighty Coe Lift Passes (including festival entry) are available now via The Mighty Coe website and full details and tickets for the après programme are coming soon.
