Best Value Food & Drink in Les3Vallées

It’s not a secret that eating and drinking out in the vast Three Valleys ski area in France can be an expensive pastime.  With that in mind – and with the busy February holiday period in full swing – our friends at Maison Sport give us their tips for the best value spots. NEW

BEST TOWN CENTRE LOCATION

Polar Café, Courchevel 1850

Right in the centre of 1850, the café is next to the main meeting point for instructors in the Croisette.

This is perfect for a quick pit stop to get refuelled and straight back to the slopes.

There’s a selection of freshly prepared dishes at the counter including soups, salads, homemade lasagne and sandwiches.

They do not take reservations – it is more of a grab and go spot – so you should be able to find yourself a table relatively quickly.

Hot items will be brought to the table, and drinks and items from the counter are self-serve.

Warm up, get yourself a casual quick bite and be back on the slopes, all for less than €20!

BEST FOR GROUPS WITH DIFFERENT TASTES

360, Val Thorens

360 is perfect if you can’t decide what you’re in the mood for.

The self-service food options include traditional savoyard dishes, a wok noodle bar, pizza, pasta and more.

The prices are very reasonable for both food and drinks.

There is a lot of outdoor seating and deck chairs for when the weather is nice.

If you fancy more of a party scene, hang around for the après vibe with music from 2pm.

BEST TRADITIONAL MOUNTAIN RESTAURANT

Bel Air, Courchevel Moriond

The Bel Air is at the top of the Ariondaz bubble that arrives directly from the centre of Courchevel Moriond.

There is a south facing terrace benefitting from views across the valley, perfect for a sunny day.

There is a fire indoors if the weather is less favourable.

All of their specialty dishes come with the famous ‘Bel Air Salad’ to start, followed by traditional savoyard dishes such as grilled meats and tartiflette, and reasonably priced wines.

They have a snack bar just underneath the main restaurant if you want to grab a quick bite on the go.

BEST FOR HUNGRY SKIERS

L’Adray Télébar, Méribel

L’Adray is a popular spot as it is just off the side of the Doron piste and has a sun terrace.

Their specialty dish is a veal escalope with mushroom sauce which you will see almost everyone in the restaurant ordering – the reason being is that they offer seconds (and thirds!) at no extra cost.

Perfect for when you are feeling extra hungry after a tough day on the slopes. The prices here are slightly higher than some of the other options on our list but you can’t beat it for the delicious food and great portion sizes.

BEST FOR ADVENTURE-SEEKERS

Chalet-Refuge Chinal Donat – Orelle

If you are exploring the 3 Valleys you may find yourself venturing into Orelle, which is often known as the ‘fourth valley’.

When you reach this valley you will find the Chalet-Refuge.

It is multi-faceted and features a large terrace, outside snack bar, indoor self-service and indoor table service restaurant, so you are sure to find something whatever your requirements.

They serve generous portions for under €20, have a specific menu for children and great value wine carafes for the adults.

The area also offers some of the best snow in The 3 Valleys, so it is the perfect spot for skiers and foodies alike.

BEST FOR A FUN COFFEE STOP

Maya Altitude, Méribel

Maya Altitude is a scenic spot with eclectic interiors and friendly staff.

The main menu is slightly more on the expensive side, however, they do reasonably priced hot drinks and have a sharing menu with items such as tacos, spring rolls and cheese plates for a quick bite between runs.

It has a 360° view of the Vallée de Belleville and the peaks of Mont Blanc – definitely  worth a visit.

If you have booked lessons with  Maison Sport our instructors are also experts on the local restaurants so don’t hesitate to ask for further recommendations from them.

Do also bear in mind that restaurants can get booked up quickly in peak periods so try to ring ahead and book if you can.
