FIS Teams Up With Azerbaijan as Skiing in Asia Grows

The aim is to promote and develop the country’s status as a world-class destination for snow sports, from recreational to elite.
Azerbaijan will be the premium partner of all International Ski & Snowboard Federation World Championships for the 2025/26 season.
It will also be a title partner of the FIS World Cup in Moguls, Aerials, Ski Cross, and Snowboard Cross, and a presenting partner in Nordic Combined.
The partnership marks the first time that FIS has appointed a Global Partner, with presence across the entire range of snowsport disciplines and a collaboration that reaches far beyond simply sponsoring events.
The FIS President, Johan Eliasch, said the agreement is far broader than a regular sponsorship deal.
“The partnership with Azerbaijan ticks all the boxes; it brings value to the entire range of our disciplines, to further the development of snow sports across all levels – from recreational to elite – and takes us into a new exciting growth market,” said Johan Eliasch.
Azerbaijan lies to the east of Turkey, where skiing is developing.

Azerbaijan is home to several ski resorts, including the Shahdag Mountain Resort that goes up to more than 2,500m.

“We are inviting the world to take another look and discover our country as a wonderful place of stunning mountain ranges and snow,” said the Chairman of the State Tourism Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Fuad Naghiyev.
“The Azerbaijan Tourism Board will take the lead in implementing this partnership to ensure its full impact is realised.”
