100 villagers from Brienz/Brinzauls have been told to leave. The village is 25 miles southwest of the ski resort of Davos.
The mountain slope above the village has been deemed unsafe by the authorities due to the accelerated movement of a rock mass on a nearby plateau.
Officials believe there is an imminent risk of collapse.
The village is situated at an altitude of 1,150m.
Farmers have been advised to move their livestock.
The village has experienced similar evacuations in the past and narrowly escaped a huge rockfall two years ago as we reported at the time:
Last month 90% of the village of Blatten was buried in a huge landslide triggered by a partial collapse of the glacier above the village.
9m cubic tons of mud, rock and ice came down the mountainside.
