The man was walking on a glacier in Saas-Fee in Switzerland when a snow bridge collapsed and he fell into the glacier. His dog did not fall in and marked the spot until the rescue services arrived.
The man had a walkie-talkie and so was able to alert the rescue services.
The Air Zermatt crew could not find where he had fallen into the glacier until they saw small dog by the edge of the barely visible crevasse.
“The little dog did not move during the entire operation and closely followed every movement of the rescue specialists,” according to a press release from Air Zermatt.
“It is fair to say that his behavior contributed significantly to the successful rescue.
βThe dog is a four-legged hero who may have saved his master’s life in a life-threatening situation.”
A hiker who fell deep into a crevasse on the Fee Glacier in canton Valais was rescued in part thanks to his loyal dog. The rescue service had a hard time locating the man until they spotted his Chihuahua perched next to the hole where he had fallen.π¨ππΆποΈhttps://t.co/rvQ1HwtHjW
