Snowshoer Dies In Avalanche in France

It is the latest fatality in what has been a grim month across the Alps and the Pyrenees. The snow pack remains highly unstable in places.
The 65-year-old man was killed in an avalanche in Cervières in the Hautes-Alpes on Friday.
His tracks in the snow were noticed going into avalanche debris and the rescue services were alerted.
They later recovered a body.
In Les2Alpes a skier remains in a critical condition in hospitla after an avalanche on Friday in the French resort.
The avalanche occurred shortly before 11 a.m. in an off-piste area in the Fée Ouest sector, at an altitude of around 2,500m.
A 59 year old man was found in cardiac arrest when the emergency services arrived.
Resuscitation efforts succeeded in restoring his cardiac activity.
He was evacuated by helicopter to hospital in Grenoble in a critical condition.
