Paraglider Survives Midair Collision Over Austrian Alps after Plane Hits Her Canopy

The 44-year-old woman from Austria was paragliding over the Piesendorf area of Salzburg on Saturday when the small plane hit and destroyed her paraglider. Check out the video. NEW
She spiraled out of control for hundreds of feet and was able to deploy her reserve parachute.
“The propeller of the motor plane severely damaged the paraglider, prompting the experienced paraglider to deploy her reserve parachute,” police said.

The 28-year-old pilot told authorities he was unable to avoid the collision.
The woman made an emergency landing and was airlifted to safety by a police helicopter.
Both she and the pilot escaped serious injury, according to the police.
