Another Ski Resort in Chile Extends Season After Record-Breaking Snow

Val Nevado has followed Ski Portillo in announcing it aims to ski into October. It has had more than 6m of snow and hopes to offer skiing and snowboarding until October 18th. NEW

The season extension follows a series of big storms that have delivered significant snowfall to the central Andes.

It has resulted in excellent skiing and snowboarding conditions as we head into September.

“We are experiencing a remarkable season, and the snow and slope conditions are exceptional,” said the General Manager of Valle Nevado, Dominique Rudloff.

“Extending through October 18 gives skiers and snowboarders even more time to enjoy what has been an incredible winter in the Andes.

“With great snow, longer spring days and 121 days of skiing, this is a season we won’t soon forget.”

Valle Nevado’s extension provides people with the opportunity to continue skiing after many Southern Hemisphere resorts begin winding down for the season as it has sadly been a different story in other ski areas in the Southern Hemisphere:

Several lodging options remain available through parts of the extended season:

  • Hotel Tres Puntas: Open through to September 20th
  • Hotel Valle Nevado: Open through to September 25th
  • Hotel Puerta del Sol: Open through to October 4th
  • Aconcagua Ski Residences: Open through to October 4th

Valle Nevado hotel stays open and offers lodging, breakfast, dinner and an interconnected ski ticket providing access to Valle Nevado and La Parva.

Aconcagua Ski Residences stays include lodging, breakfast and an interconnected ski ticket.

Valle Nevado is under two hours from Santiago International Airport.

With its interconnect with La Parva, the resort offers access to the largest ski area in the Southern Hemisphere with more than 4,200 skiable acres.

Valle Nevado features ski-in/ski-out lodging, heli-skiing, modern lift infrastructure, terrain for all ability levels, and convenient access from North America via direct flights to Santiago.
