One Person Dies in Bulgaria Avalanche

The accident happened off-piste in an avalanche on Pirin Mountain as a group of off-piste skiers was descending.

Two others were dug out by the rescue services.

The Bulgarian Mountaineering and Skiing Association has warned that conditions for skiing outside designated slopes are dangerous.

The is a Level 4 risk of avalanche, High, in some areas after recent heavy snow.

The identities of the people caught has not been released as next-of-kin are informed.

An investigation is underway.
