First Travelski Express Departs

After Covid-19 delays the new holiday inclusive rail service to the French Alps is finally heading to France. So, what’s on offer?

It leaves each Friday evening from St Pancras station in London.

The Travelski Express is operated by Eurostar and travels direct to Moutiers and then Bourg St Maurice.

As well as carbon reducing return rail travel, skiers and snowboarders can have 7 days of skiing in an all-inclusive package including train travel, transfers, accommodation and ski pass.

It replaces the old Eurostar ski train.

There is a daytime return service leaving on the following Saturday morning from France.

It is a wholly owned subsidiary of Compagnie des Alpes, CDA.

It gives access only to Meribel and Les Menuires in Les3Vallees, plus La Plagne, Les Arcs, Val d’Isere and Tignes.

It is part of a package that includes CDA accommodation and lift passes.

The service is exclusively for Travelski passengers and is not available to book separately.

The new service was launched with some fanfare last autumn as we reported at the time on PlanetSKI:

Skiers arrive on Saturday morning after the overnight journey, are offered a French breakfast on arrival before getting kitted up and on to the first lift, if they wish.

“It is such a good news to have this service up and running for winter 21-22,” said the director of  tourism at Les Menuires, Marlène Giacometti, to PlanetSKI.

“British customers are so important for Les Menuires and we are keen to welcome them again.

“The packages have to be booked via Travelski to make the train work for our guests; they will have a good way to travel to our resort, Les Menuires, just above Moutiers, and one that is more eco-friendly, so we are happy.”

“After a delayed start we are very happy to be taking British skiers direct to the heart of the Alps on our exclusive Eurostar charter,” said the CEO of Travelski Express, Guillaume de Marcillac,

“The conditions are excellent, our packages are really good value for money, everyone on board is vaccinated and tested – and you are helping the environment at a crucial time.

“This is a great way to go skiing from the UK and I am looking forward to boarding the train on Friday.”
