TOTS, TWEENS & TEENS IN TOW

Absolutely Snow offers some top tips for family friendly skiing destinations to remove any stress and ensure everyone can kick back and relax.

  • Avoid taking little ones to larger, more expensive resorts as it is unlikely you will be able to make full use of your ski pass – smaller ski areas boast fantastic ski schools.
  • Choose ski-in and ski-out hotels, apartments or chalets.
  • Opt for a resort close to an airport, not further than two hours away.

Absolutely Snow can package all ski extras together for you, including ski hire, ski passes and non-ski activities, such as sledging, ice-skating and even snow-shoeing.

PRACTICE MAKES PROGRESS

With decades of experience across Europe and beyond, Absolutely Snow has hunted out the very best resorts for beginners, so you won’t be at all daunted by taking your first strides on the snow.

Absolutely Snow work with the most prestigious ski schools to ensure you will have the best time.

They recommend avoiding big names and heading to a smaller resort.

For example, Arinsal in Andorra is one of their most recommended beginners’ resorts with a renowned British-run ski school.

Absolutely Snow recommends booking ski or snowboard lessons for the morning, starting around 10am, with 2-3 hours with an instructor.

This allows plenty of time in the morning and you can relax afterwards over lunch in a mountain restaurant, before practicing those turns on gentler slopes back down to the valley.

SKIING – TOP TIPS

Experts at managing group ski trips, Absolutely Snow have compiled some top tips to help you plan your next group trip away with friends or colleagues.

– One top tip to maximise time on the slopes, and to minimise time off work, is to take a late flight out to the resort, allowing you to work most of the day and arrive ready to hit the slopes the next day.

Ski hire shops open between 8 – 8.30 so clients can be on the slopes for those early lifts by 9am.

– Consider when you might wish to travel.

Christmas and New Year are high season weeks and resorts will be busy.

January – February generally sees great snow conditions with empty slopes but it can get quite cold.

While March offers long days, and snow on the south facing slopes can soften towards the end of the day so go high and be prepared to forgo short airport transfers for great skiing conditions.

As the season draws to as close at the end of April, some fabulous skiing can still be found – get out early and take a late lunch to make the most of fresh tracks in the morning.

– Absolute Snow recommends resorts within two hours from the airport, with world class skiing on offer and much better value for money.

Fly to Geneva Airport for: The Portes du Soleil (Morzine, Les Gets, Avoriaz, Chatel, Champery), Chamonix, La Clusaz, Verbier, Flaine and Les Carroz.

Fly to Malaga for: Sierra Nevada.

Fly to Toulouse for: Baqueira, La Molina and Andorra – Pas de la Casa, Soldeu, Canillo, La Massana and Arinsal.

Fly to Salzburg for: Saalbach/Hinterglemm, Maria Alm, and Zell am See.
