Mikaela Shiffrin Set to Return

Mikaela Shiffrin will return to the Alpine Ski World Cup on January 30th after she was injured in a high speed crash at the beginning of the season.
She will make her retrun exacly two months after her injury in a slalom race in Courchevel, France.
The US skier, whose 99 World Cup alpine ski victories are the most of any individual, has been out of action since she punctured her right abdomen in Vermont in the USA at the end of November.
“It’s been a little bit uncertain whether I could even return this season, but I’ve been able to get on snow, I’ve been able train a little bit the past week or so, and I’m actually going to be heading over to Europe in the next couple of days,” she said on the “TODAY” show this week.
“I have a stab wound, basically,” Shiffrin told NBC Olympics in December as she recalled her injury.
It has been a long awaited comeback and all eyes will be on how it has affected her and if she can takes that final victory for a staggering 100 wins.

This is the second season in a row that she has been out through injury for a significant time.
Last season, she missed six weeks while recovering from a downhill crash where she sprained multiple ligaments in her left knee.
Shiffrin has competed in the World Cup circuit since 2011, and in 15 seasons she has earned five overall titles and 11 discipline titles.
Shiffrin’s most successful discipline is slalom, in which she has eight titles.
Shiffrin also seven gold medals in the Alpine Ski World Championships, and has participated in three Olympic Games.
